  1. Day 1: Luang Prabang Arrival

    Profoundly influenced by the French, unquestionably earns the title of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, this exquisite town in Laos is not to be missed under any circumstances. Situated on the peninsula formed by the Mekong and the Nam Khan River, Luang Prabang is a perfect spot to unwind, eat good food and enjoy the scenery. This relatively small, palm fringed place is packed with fabulous colonial villas, top class restaurants, coffee shops and stunning Buddhist temples. It’s a perfect destination if you are in the process of deciding where to travel in Laos.


    Welcome to Luang Prabang, meet you guide and be transferred to hotel for check in (check in time from 14:00). Rest of the day is free at leisure.

  2. Day 2: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si waterfall – City Tour

    We begin our trip with a visit to Ban Ouay, Hmong Hill tribe and Ban Ou, Lowland Lao. Continue driving to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths. You are free to visit the Bear Rescue Centre which relies solely on partners, corporate sponsors and donations from the public. Back to the old town to visit Royal Palace Museum, was built in 1904 during the French colonial era for King Sisavang Vong and his family. Head to the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, representative of classic Laotian architecture. Later that day, we adjourn to the Phousi hill to enjoy the marvelous panoramic views of the town.

  3. Day 3: Luang Prabang – Kamu Lodge (Join in group)

    Our driver will take you to pier, you will board a traditional Long River boat at Kamu Lodge pier at 08:30am. Take a leisurely cruise upstream while enjoying the refreshment served on the boat.


    Marvel at the thousands of gold Buddha statues placed in sacred Pak Ou caves by devotees.


    Continue upriver and you would reach Kamu Lodge around noon. A refreshing welcome drink is served. You can check into your tents with attached modern bathroom amenities and facilities. Then enjoy lunch in an airy SALA settled in the middle of rice paddy fields.
    After lunch, you can choose to either relax or to enjoy the traditional Kamu lifestyles and activities such as rice planting and harvesting in surrounding rice fields, gold panning in the Mekong (anything you find is Yours!), traditional fishing techniques (you can sample your catch for dinner!), visit of the Kamu village, archery contest.


    Dinner is a feast by Kamu tribe standard. After dinner, retire to your tent.

  4. Day 4: Kamu Lodge – Trekking (Join in group)

    After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to go for a 4-hours trek in the surrounding forest to the waterfall (trekking grade: moderate/challenging). You will enjoy a picnic lunch at the waterfall. On your way back to the lodge, you will visit one village along the Mekong River.


    In the afternoon, relax and enjoy leisure activities available on site such as bathe in the Mekong, one hour Lao traditional massage, “petanque” contest.


    Dinner is served at the restaurant. After Dinner, you can retire to your tent.

  5. Day 5: Kamu Lodge – Luang Prabang (Join in group)

    After breakfast and lunch you will board around 02:00pm for the cruise back to Luang Prabang. Arrive Luang Prabang around 5 pm, drive to hotel, rest of the day is free at leisure.

  6. Day 6: Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw - Trekking 100 Waterfall

    We depart hotel at 08:00 am to Nong Khiaw (4 hours), also spelt Nong Kiaow and Nong Kiau) is a little piece of paradise on the Nam Ou River. Used as a stepping-stone for further exploration, Nong Khiaw gives a great introduction to the idealistic atmosphere of Northern Laos. Arrive and have lunch.


    In the afternoon take a boat ride on the Nam Ou river to a small village where you can learn about the way of life along this river. Then we’ll trek through small streams and rice paddies to reach the base of the 100 waterfalls. The next few hours you will see only water and jungle and hear the sound of clear waterfall cascades. The pools around you are very inviting for a refreshing splash. Your guide will lead you through the cascades and prepare a local style lunch on the falls in the middle of it all. Then we will take a small villagers’ trail from the top of the falls back down into the valley; along the way, you’ll take in views of the landscapes of the Nam Ou valley. Hiking back to the village, we will have more time to observe the daily life here before return by a small boat to Nong Khiaw.

  7. Day 7: Nong Khiaw – Muang Ngoy – Nong Khiaw

    We take a cruise to Muang Ngoi, an idyllic riverside towns setting on the bank of Nam Ou river. Along the way we stop at the ethnic Khmu village of Houy Hoy, here we spend some time to look around the village and see how the Khmu people go about their everyday tasks. We actually pass straight through Muang Ngoi at first and pay the village of Ban Sop Jam a visit. This village is famous for its traditional Lao silk and cotton weaving, here you can purchase some beautiful textiles if you wish.


    After spending some time in the village we turn around and return back downstream to Muang Ngoi. Upon arrival we take some time to have a break and a coffee before heading off on a small trek which takes us through some gorgeous scenery consisting of limestone cliffs, mountains and rice paddy fields. Back to Nong Khiaw for overnight.

  8. Day 8: Nong Khiaw – Ban Nayang - Luang Prabang

    Leave Nong Khiaw we drive to Ban Nayang, the village is home to the Tai Lu minorities, who migrated from Yunnan, China in the late 18th century. Upon arrival, walk a short distance to the village which is home to about 500 Tai Lu tribal people. The villagers grow their own cotton and each household has two or three weaving looms beneath their living quarters. The houses are all built on stilts, which is particular to the Tai Lu. Observe the distinct weaving style of the villagers, who produce table cloths, wall decorations and scarves. Although shy by nature, the villagers are open to talk about their daily life activities and you are invited to interact with the local people. Learn more about their efforts to preserve their traditional working methods and crafts. Enjoy the afternoon mingling with the locals and going around the area to learn more about daily life in the village. Head back to Luang Prabang in midafternoon.

  9. Day 9: Luang Prabang Departure

    Have breakfast at the hotel then enjoy free time before driving to the airport to catch your departure flight home.
