Begin this journey from exquisite town of Luang Prabang, UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will soak in the grace of this place to unwind, eat good food and enjoy the scenery. Head to little piece of paradise on the Nam Ou River. Used as a stepping-stone for further exploration, Nong Khiaw gives a great introduction to the idealistic atmosphere of Northern Laos. Explore Nam Ha NPA, the National Protected Area around Luang Namtha and is also one of the easiest nature reserves to visit when you are in Laos. The park is covered in lush woods and jungles and there are also several local villages here that are home to the Khamu, Akha and Lao Huay ethnic minorities. Take a two days cruise for unique experience, an opportunity to understand more about life and nature along the legendary Mekong river.

  1. Day 1: Luang Prabang Arrival.

    Welcome to Luang Prabang, profoundly influenced by the French, unquestionably earns the title of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This relatively small, palm fringed place is packed with fabulous colonial villas, top class restaurants, coffee shops and stunning Buddhist temples.
    Meet you guide and be transferred to hotel for check in (check in time from 14:00). Rest of the day is free at leisure.

  2. Day 2: Luang Prabang City Tour.

    Today we take a trip around the ancient city to visit the most highlights. We begin with Royal Palace Museum, was built in 1904 during the French colonial era for King Sisavang Vong and his family. Continue our trip to Wat Mai, the largest and most richly decorated of the temples in Luang Prabang. Then head to the magnificent Wat Xiengthong – Representative of classic Laotian architecture.
    In the afternoon we visit the unique Wat Visoun, entirely rebuilt after its destruction in 1887 by the invading Black Flags from southern China. In the courtyard of Wat Visoun stands the Watermelon Stupa, which is shaped like the fruit it takes its name from. Then head to the excellent Arts and Ethnology Center which will give you further insight into the ethnic mix and culture of Laos. Later that day, we adjourn to the Phousi hill to enjoy the marvelous panoramic views of the town at sunset.

  3. Day 3: Luang Prabang – Alms Giving – Kuang Si Waterfall.

    This morning you will wake up early (05:30 AM) and take participate in the daily early morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls being given offerings from the local people, including the ubiquitous sticky rice. Back to hotel for breakfast.
    After refreshment, we explore Ock Pop Tok craft living center overlooking the Mekong river, set in a tropical Mekong garden. Meaning “east meets west”, Ock Pop Tok brings the fascinating world of traditional Lao handicrafts alive for visitors. Continue our trip to the morning Phosi Market where you will see exotic things as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings.
    Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will take a walk to visit the Ban Ouay, Hmong Hill tribe and Ban Ou, Lowland Lao. Continue driving to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths. You are free to visit the Bear Rescue Centre which relies solely on partners, corporate sponsors and donations from the public. Buying T shirt or other merchandise is highly recommended to fund this preservation. Back to the old town to relax.

  4. Day 4: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou caves – Nong Kiaw.

    Take a morning cruise along the Mekong River, about two hours upstream from the centre of Luang Prabang, and discover the numerous Buddha images at Pak Ou Caves. Pak Ou (mouth of the Ou river) includes the Tham Ting (lower cave) and the Tham Theung (upper cave) are caves overlooking the Mekong River.  It is then only a short distance from the caves to the village of Ban Xang Hai. We’ll stop here to learn about LauLao (Lao whisky) and LauHai (Lao wine).
    Continue our drive to Nong Khiaw, a little charming town nest on river bank. Check in hotel and relax.

  5. Day 5: Nong Kiaw – Muang Ngoi Boat Trip.

    We leave Nong Khiaw at 8:30 Am and cruise up the river via a traditional long boat. Along the way, we stop off to visit several different ethnic villages. We actually pass straight through Muang Ngoi at first and pay the village of Ban Sop Jam a visit. This village is famous for its traditional Lao silk and cotton weaving, here you can purchase some beautiful textiles if you wish.
    After spending some time in the village, we turn around and return back downstream to Muang Ngoi. Upon arrival, we take some time to have a break and a coffee before heading off on a small trek which takes us through some gorgeous scenery consisting of limestone cliffs, mountains and rice paddy fields.
    Along the trek, we visit a historical cave which was used as bomb shelter by the local during the second Indochina war. Upon returning back to Muang Ngoi we board our boat for the cruise back down the river whilst watching the beautiful sunset over Nong Khiaw, arriving back just before dark.

  6. Day 6: Nong Kiaw – Luang Nam Tha.

    Leave Nong Kiaw for a drive to Luang Namtha (6-7 hours), people spend time in this area to take opportunity of trekking in the surrounding resplendent countryside. This mountainous region of Laos is also studded with ethnic villages. Nam Ha NPA is the National Protected Area around Luang Namtha and is also one of the easiest nature reserves to visit when you are in Laos. The park is covered in lush woods and jungles and there are also several local villages here that are home to the Khamu, Akha and Lao Huay ethnic minorities.
    On arrival, our guide will take you stroll around the town.

  7. Day 7: Luang Nam Tha – Nalan Village.

    The trail begins at Doiluckkham approximately 20 km from Laung Namtha town. From here the trail ascends through 10-20-year-old secondary forest until emerging into the upland jungle forest of Nam Ha NPA. The path offers great views as it levels out along a ridge before re-entering the forest. The trees here are much older having long being a major part of the natural history of the area you are trekking through.
    A tasty Lao-style picnic lunch is enjoyed in the cool upland forest or in the shade of a thatched farmer’s hut. Early afternoon will find the trekkers in the Nalan community forest. You will arrival Nalan which the village awarded ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism 2018. After check in your homestay you have time to walking around the village and learn about their lifestyle, culture and traditional. After dinner on local food you will enjoy tourism activities offered by community.

  8. Day 8: Nalan Village – Chalernsouk or Nalue Village – Luang Namtha.

    In the morning you still have time to visit the village and test Lao Coffee by bamboo cups. After breakfast, on this day we have two option as: the first trail hike uphill through forest. Traditional lunch will be prepared en-route on the forest path. Thereafter, you will have an easy two-hour hike down the mountain slope until you ar k, where your driver will be waiting for you and shuttle you back to Luang Namtha.
    The second option follow the Nam Ha River through the village of Nalan Tai Village and on through the open cultivated areas of the Lanten people, who are local village residents. We leave the Nam Ha River as the trail steadily climbs for a couple of hours. This is the most challenging section of the trail, but also the most beautiful, as it passes through stands of ancient trees, some five hundred years old, that create some high dense canopy rich in birdlife. We need only pause quietly to hear the forest come alive with a mixed chorus of birds and insects. From the top of the ridge, spectacular northern views lay before you, with Luang Namtha visible away in the distance. The final descent takes the group past upland rice fields and cultivated areas tended by the people of Namlue village. The trail steepens here and can be slippery after rainfall. But a careful pace with sound footwear will get you down safely to the village of Namlue village where Lantan and Khmu people live together. And that is where you end your trek, returning to Luang Namtha by Tuk Tuk late afternoon to round off a journey we trust you will fondly remember.

  9. Day 9: Luang Nam Tha – Huay Xay.

    Enjoy free morning then we drive to Huay Xay, the border town with Thailand. Check in hotel and relax.

  10. Day 10: Huay Xay – Cruise to Pak Beng.

    09:00 and 09:15am: Team of the boat will pick you at hotel between for the cruise. 12:00pm: Lunch is served on board. You will taste traditional Lao food with several dishes.
    2:00pm: The first stop will be to visit a Hill Tribe Village along the Mekong River. Our guide will explain the way of living and the origins of these rural populations. The tribe being small, we ask you a special attention to respect the private space of the habitants while the visit.
    During the afternoon, you will be free to relax on board and taste some local snacks and fresh fruits.
    4:30pm: The boat arrives in Pakbeng before sunset, where you will retreat to your accommodation for the night.

  11. Day 11: Pakbeng – Cruise to Luang Prabang.

    8:00am: The boat leaves Pakbeng. The boat departs for another day of impressive nature landscapes all along the river. 2 stops are planned during the afternoon. Use your free time in the morning for asking some questions about Luang Prabang and Laos the guide.
    12:30 pm: Lunch is served on board. You will taste traditional Lao food with several dishes.
    1:00 pm: After the lunch, the first stop will be at Pak Ou to visit the famous Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its thousands of Buddha images.”
    2:30 pm: Next step, the Lao Lao village, commonly known as the Whiskey Village.
    In there, the guide will provide information about the locally made rice whisky, and you will have the chance to taste it if you wish.
    You will also have time to enjoy the charm of this small and authentic village, its temple and local artisans.
    You will be served some local snacks and fresh fruits before arrival.
    You will arrive in Luang Prabang around 4:30pm.

  12. Day 12: Luang Prabang Departure.

    Have breakfast at the hotel then enjoy free time before driving to the airport to catch your departure flight home.
